For 59 years now, UMHE (known on campus as Ekklesia) has been doing life-giving ministry with young adults at Missouri State University. We remain committed to ecumenical ministry and to our twofold mission: to nurture students in their faith formation as they make connections between their faith and the life they are preparing to live; and to influence the campus culture to make it a more safe, just, and welcoming place for all people.
Ekklesia is the only ministry on campus telling LGBTQ+ students that God loves them and has a place for them in God's work in the world; the only ministry advocating for Interfaith Cooperation and accommodations for students of minority faiths in dining, housing, and academics; the only ministry doing intentional vocational discernment with students from mainline traditions considering ministry as a career or imagining how they might incorporate their faith into a non-ministry career; and the only ministry that names racial justice as a pillar of our work and backs it up with resources, guest speakers, and a peer ministry position.
This is faithful work. This is timely work. This is important work. This is God's work, and we've been invited to join in. Will you join with us and support this work?
